"Racing teaches us to challenge ourselves. It teaches us to push beyond where we thought we could go. It helps us to find out what we are made of. This is what we do. This is what it's all about."

Burke Lake 12k - Fairfax Station VA

I almost forgot to update this blog with last Sunday's race ...
On a sunny morning, with temperatures in the mid 40's and with some breezes, we ran through the mud on the backside of the Burke Lake trail.

This is one of the few 12k of the year, so probably the chance to lower your PR. The course is out-and-back almost completely around Burke Lake. The start/finish is at the northern end of the Burke Lake Park Ice Cream Parlor/Merry-Go-Round parking lot on main roadway; the race proceeds clockwise around lake over mildly rolling terrain. The first half mile is on the paved main roadway and then it continues in the dirt path (watch for tree roots and protruding rocks!)  till the turnaround.

The race was to the Snowball Series Event #7 on the DCRRC running schedule... now only one is left (next Sunday in Fort Hunt).
