"Racing teaches us to challenge ourselves. It teaches us to push beyond where we thought we could go. It helps us to find out what we are made of. This is what we do. This is what it's all about."

XXVI° Cross di Bedizzole - Bedizzole (BS)

As usual, on January 6th, the new racing season in Brescia starts with the "Cross of Bedizzole".

The race, valid as Phase 1 of the Masters team's provincial championship (m / f), has gathered at the starting line of a large number of athletes ready to start well this 2013.

The course was lovely, muddy (as required for a proper Cross Country Race) but not too much, with gentle climbs, and topped with great weather conditions (different from those we had when I raced here last time, in 2009, under a heavy snowfall).

And every year the first race of the season has a special flavor: new bib, new opponents generally younger and a lot of team changes for different athletes; I must say this year was no exception.

While I'm giving two thumbs up to the organizers (Atletica Bedizzole), outstanding in co-ordinating the needs of runners with a well organized and warm welcome area, efficient bib pick-up, well marked and prepared track, nice refreshments, lots of parking, showers available, and fast awards ceremony; surely I can not be satisfied with my race.

I started out pretty well up but then, after a couple of miles, I found myself too "heavy" and without the proper "reactivity" needed to change stride on the ups and downs of the course. Perhaps it was due to the amount of training of the past few weeks, or the extra pounds of the festivities or perhaps the lack of motivation, I do not know. Certainly will be better next time.

Here today's results.
