"Racing teaches us to challenge ourselves. It teaches us to push beyond where we thought we could go. It helps us to find out what we are made of. This is what we do. This is what it's all about."

26° Corrida di Santo Stefano - Farra d'Isonzo (GO)

This year we spent our holidays with the parents, and we had a chance to re-establish a long time tradition by running, on December 26,  the "Corrida di Santo Stefano". This is a road race (slightly more than 6.5 miles long), nicely organized and managed by Cesare Ballaben,  which takes place since 1987 close to Gorizia (the race, until a couple of years ago, used to start in Gradisca, now the starting line has been moved to Farra d'Isonzo).

Even though this is a low key race, multiple of "high end" athletes like to join the competition; as an example some of the previous winners are El Abdelmadi Hachimi, Rachid Kisri, Lahcen Mokraji, Mitija Kosoveli and Zakayo Kipsang.
This year the winner was Benazzouz Slimani over Ahmed Nasef (they finished in a sprint between friends).

Nice race, a long lasting tradition that deserves to survive; see you next year.

By the way, happy with my result, I could "afford" an additional slice of panettone (a traditional Christmas cake)     ;-)
