"Racing teaches us to challenge ourselves. It teaches us to push beyond where we thought we could go. It helps us to find out what we are made of. This is what we do. This is what it's all about."

MCM 10K - Arlington VA

Last Sunday of October in the DC area is Marine Corps Marathon day and if you live around here you have to be part of the event, so in 2009 I ran the Marathon, last year and today the 10K.
At 8:00 sharp, after the National Anthem, both the Marathon and the 10K started, the first from the Pentagon, the latter from the Washington Mall (in front of the Smithsonian Castle).
Weather was good for racing, especially after yesterday's rain and snow, nevertheless due to the low temperatures during the night ice patches were present over the bridges, creating risky conditions for the runners.

My 10K result was almost a minute slower than last year. I was a bit disappointed at first, but after a detailed comparison between the 2010 and 2011 results I figured out that some other guys, that arrived in front of me both years, today lost from 30 seconds to a minute 20 seconds.

Click here for the 10K results and/or here for the Marathon.

Congrats to all Marathon finishers ... but a special pat on the back goes to:
