"Racing teaches us to challenge ourselves. It teaches us to push beyond where we thought we could go. It helps us to find out what we are made of. This is what we do. This is what it's all about."

National Race Against The Odds 5K - Arlington VA

I forgot to report last Sunday's race. We ran a challenging 5K around Tuckahoe Park in  East Falls Church (Arlington).
Overall:Not a race to mark on your calendar.
We had some mess at the beginning: start of the race delayed by few minutes ... the "pace car" didn't move at the GO signal ...
The course was fine, well marked and with a lot of volunteers ... on the downside it was definitively longer that 5k.
But what really was disappointing was the award ceremony: prizes (300$) only for the first overall (male and female) ... and just a photo for the age group winners (and by the way you have to pay to download it online). I really felt fooled (they call us for the age group winning "recognition" but we've been send back without even a shake of hands).
Suggestion for next year - give 150$ to the winner (it's more than most of the major races around) and with the remaining 150$ give awards (10 & 5$ gift cards) to the first 2 of each age group.

Here's the results.
