"Racing teaches us to challenge ourselves. It teaches us to push beyond where we thought we could go. It helps us to find out what we are made of. This is what we do. This is what it's all about."

ThorpeWood's 10K Trail Run - Thurmont MD

Sunday morning it was time for a trail run 10k in Thurmont (at an altitude of about 1500 ft in the middle of the Catoctin Mountains - north-western part of Maryland).
The competition, now in its fourth edition, took place along a series of scenic trails on the property of ThorpeWood, and allowed to visit among other things, a pond, an arboretum, pastures with Icelandic horses and an orchard of chestnut trees .
The 10K race was composed by two laps, very technical characterized by both stretches of fast roads and paths with emerging stones and tree roots (there was a 5K fun run ... guess what ... a single lap). Post-race, we had awards and prizes donated by local businesses, refreshments and drinks for the runners with a lot of beer offered by the Flying Dog Brewery.
A beautiful morning in a different kind of place really far from the chaos of the city.
